Participation of PolesSU and LLC "Technopark Polesye" in the Field Workshop under the Auspices of the UNDP Belarus

Developing partnership relations with UNDP Belarus, as part of the formation of the Chernobyl Investment Platform, Polessky State University and Technopark Polesie LLC took part in a field workshop “Investment Opportunities for the Development of Territories Exposed to Radioactive Contamination as a Result of the Chernobyl Disaster” in Kostiukovichi on March 25, 2021.

The event was led by Anatoly Isachenko (National coordinator for achieving the SDGs, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus), Alexandra Solovyova (Permanent Representative of the UNDP in the Republic of Belarus), Ruslan Strahar (Deputy Chairman of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee), Alexander Gorbachevsky (Chairman of the Kostyukovichi District Executive Committee), representatives of the districts of the South-Eastern Region and other interested persons.

Polessky State University was presented by Alexey Kozyr, Director of Technopark Polesye LLC, with a report: "Innovation and Industrial Cluster in the Field of Biotechnology and Green Economy" as the technological basis of the Chernobyl Investment Platform. The project is planned to be implemented in Mogilev, Gomel and Brest regions. One of the key areas of work will be the development of partnerships and investments by private and banking sector institutions, chambers of commerce, international organizations and partners.

The workshop was divided into two parts: discussion of the directions of development of areas of the Mogilev region that were exposed to radioactive contamination, and presentations of concepts and scientific approaches to the development of the Chernobyl Investment Platform, as well as visits to the facilities of the Kostyukovichi district (FOC, solar power plant and Lokhva fisheries).

Summing up the results of the field workshop, Anatoly Isachenko, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic, National Coordinator for achieving the SDGs noted that sustainable development is one of the most important areas of regional development. The new platform, which was presented today along with those that are already successfully working, will give a new impetus to the development of the regions. It is important that the technological basis of the platform will be the projects and developments of Polessky State University and Technopark Polesye LLC.
